Here's the one in number 8 cotton.

A much smaller church and tree...it's quite small which is what I wanted...Not too bad for a first....maybe make more next year! I put a small battery operated candle in it....wasn't sure whether to glue the little church down or not. A friend suggested to glue it down and let the battery run out dead....I have not done that yet...still thinking about that one. Well, we may be getting a storm so I'd better stop. See Ya....

Some scatter stuff.

These are very easy to make, just make sure you make 2 of different colours and then you twist them together You can make them large or small....when I'm done I will scatter them over the table...here and there See ya.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.......candle holders for a table runner...last year I had six.....3 of each colour........ here is the link ...... see ya!

I just had to try this....

I love a challenge, and this was one......all I had was a photo on a website, which I printed out... here it is...... Actually, it is much larger than I had hoped, the cotton I used was too thick, so I will do another one in a finer cotton, say a number 8 so....there you go...... see ya.

Well......I did it!

I managed to figure out how to finish it and the lovely lady who received it was "over the moon" she loved it...Glad it's done See ya!

dressing another doll

A friend of mine keeps buying dolls, from an op-shop, then gives them to me to dress....here's another one....I then pass them on the a pre-school for the littlies to play with....... See ya...

A crocheters worst nightmare....

I started this stole for another dear friend in a retirement village....and I do not have enough wool......Oh me....oh my...what to do....what to do! .......see ya!

Booties...

This is a very easy pattern to knit, if you know how to use 4 double pointed knitting needles....actually you will need 5. I got it here but for a beginner I thought it was a little complicated so I improvised it slightly. Here is my version, ( but feel free to try the one I got it from in the first place) Pattern: These booties are knitted top down. Needed material: about 1 skein (50 gr.) of yarn, a set of 5 double pointed needles (size suitable for the chosen yarn) and a tapestry needle. The following abbreviations are used in this pattern. Sts - Stitches; BO - Bind off; Dpn - Double pointed needles; RS - Right side; CO - Cast on; WS - Wrong side; Sl - Slip; P - Purl; K2tog - Knit 2 stitches together; K - Knit; Inc - Increase; YO - Slip yarn over/around needle. Start by Casting on 32 sts evenly divided on 3 DPN,( perhaps 11 sts on 2 needles and 10 sts on the other?) and knit 1 plain stitch; 1 purl stitch; for 15 rows (or length you like) Next: Row 1 – all Knit ...

A little job for a friend.

A little job I did for a friend...she pays me with chocolates...not bad huh, see ya!

While deciding what to do......

While trying to decide what to do with those squares I thought I'd take a break and make this........ The pattern is here the hardest part was putting them together so they overlapped properly see ya!

Did some more work on lacy jumper

Yet another request

Cross-over child's scarf

Cross-over scarf ( this one is a small one for a child maybe, if you want it bigger cast on more stitches and make the neck length longer) Cast on 24 sts...then knit 2 stitches, purl 2 stitches, to the end. Do this row 30 times ( more if for an adult also more stitches cast on) *Next knit 6 stitches...turn work...purl the same 6 stitches back...knit 25 rows in this rib...put stitches on a safety pin to keep. Do this another 3 x with the left over 18 stitches put them on a safety pin. (you should have 4 strips of separately knitted bits, making sure they are all the same lenght)* Now place the stitches from the safety pin, back on your knitting needles and knit 2 stitches, and purl 2 stitches, again till you have the length you need. Then repeat from * to * again. Then very carefully weave the last strips through the first strips as per photo, and put all the stitches back on the knitting needles. When all the stitches have been put on one needle again repeat the 2 plain/2 purl s...

New project

A friend asked me could I make this? So I said I'd give it go.....looks rather alright, doesn't it? See ya!

Knitting is spooky!

I’ll just put it right out there: Knitting is spooky. It’s obviously impossible to do, and yet you see people doing it all the time. These people clearly are a superior life-form. If you doubt this, spend a day with a dozen of your friends. At the end of the evening, have a look around: Eleven of you will have cookie crumbs in your laps, and the knitter will have an entire sweater. That’s just freaky. Because knitting makes no sense at all. A knitter, by definition, creates holes by surrounding them with string, using sticks, a clickety-clickety noise, locally sourced air, and goodness. Those of us who suspect we are not innately good can barely aspire to the art. And yet, I so aspired. I wanted a hat. I bought a ball of string and some sticks and I found a tutorial online. After stopping the video four or five hundred times, I cast on 50 stitches. Then, staring hard, and trying to make my sticks and string match up to the video, I succeeded in making ...

Both done.....not sorry!

Both little jumpers done and honestly....I am not sorry. I am not very good at doing orders, by that I mean, some one asks me to make something, (which is fine) and want it by a certain date, ( which is not fine) I prefer to do it at my leisure, and when I do, it's usually done before said time.....anyway... but, they are done...phew! see ya

One down....one to go!

Finished the first little jumper. It was the biggest and I am glad I did it first, the second one is almost done...just have to do a sleeve and put it together.... Hope she likes them See ya

I have started.....

These are the four pieces to the first jumper.....I knitted the biggest one first...have started the smaller one....I have plenty of time as I don't need to give them to the lady in question until the last Thursday this month...I should have them well and truly done by then....and yes....I am getting paid for doing them....not much but, it's something! See ya!

A special request gone wrong!

I am volunteer at a nursing home/retirement village. One of the ladies there rang me and asked did I know some one who would knit a couple of small jumpers for her. She was wanting one for a one year old and a two year old... Seeing I know a few ladies who knit, I told her I could probably fix that up for her. She is willing to pay for it and she would buy the wool. So........I organized for her to get the wool to me and you'd think all went well.....not so! The ladies I had in mind, had no intentions of wanting to do it.......now what???? I felt I'd made the promise so I didn't think it fair to let her down...I decided I would do the job myself. Here's the start of the first one....it's the biggest, so I can see how far I will get with the wool she got me! See ya!

Some barefoot sandals

these work up quite quick, and look cute on little girls as well as adults on the beach...I go barefoot a lot so they work well for me. You can make the straps any length required. see ya.

My test as to how to do this pattern

I promised to try and figure out how to do that lovely pattern down below, Oct I think it was, with the twist in the hat and scarf..... It turned out quite easy so I just did a head band with one twist, so I could show you. This is knitted, but you could do the same in crocheting. All you do is cast on 20 sts Knit first row to the end *2nd row knit 5st, purl 10, knit 5. That is what you do 4 rows, (rows 1 and 2) next knit 5, cast off ten, knit 5 turn next knit 5 cast on 10 knit 5* repeat this little set till you have length required. (see 2nd photo) Then have a good look at the 3rd photo...you sort of twist the first cast off 10 sts and loop it through the next one. Once you have started it's easy to just keep going till you have done them all. If you want to do 2 rows next to each other, like the hat below, cast on an extra 15 sts, and do the same thing. Hope that is clear enough? See ya
