I did these for ease.

I have had this pattern for a long time and use it for a variety of ideas as you can see. White small booties:3 ply wool: needle size 2¾.. coloured larger booties 8 ply wool: needle size 3¾ needles Red booties same as coloured. (All these booties are using the exact same pattern..showing that 3 ply wool and smaller needles make smaller booties...but same stitch count and heavier ply wool and larger needles make larger booties) tbl, means through back of loop. Incr, means make 2 stitches out of 1. wrn, means wool round needle. These booties are started from the foot end, not the top. Cast on 37 stitches....knit 1 row. 2nd row: K 1. incr 1: K 15: incr 1. K 1, incr 1: K15:incr 1 K1. 3rd row: and all odd rows, Knit 4th row: K 1.incr 1: K 17: incr 1. K 1, incr 1: K17: incr 1 K 1. 6th row: K 1. incr 1: K19: incr 1. K 1, incr 1: K 19: incr 1 K1. 8th row: K 1. incr 1: K 21,incr 1. K 1, incr 1: K 21: incr 1 K 1. 10th row: K1, incr 1 K 23, incr 1. K 1, incr 1 K 23: incr 1 K 1 ( 57 sts) 11th row: K 2 tog: knit to last 2 sts Knit 2 tog. (55sts) Knit 5 rows plain knitting.(don't panic if you did 6, I did but no one can tell, after all babies don't really know, do they?) SHAPE INSTEP: 1st row: Knit 32 sts: K 2 tog tbl: turn....( you will still have sts left on needle) 2nd row: sl 1st stitch: purl 10: purl 2 tog: turn...( you will still have sts left on that needle too) 3rd row: sl 1st stitch: Knit 10: K 2 tog tbl: (that is the last sts and one from the left over sts)turn 4th row: sl 1: purl 10: P 2 tog,( that is the last sts of the 10 and one from the left over sts): turn 5th row: sl 1 knit 10: K 2 tog tbl turn 6th row: sl 1 purl 10 P 2 tog turn 7th row: sl 1 knit 10: K 2 tog tbl turn Repeat rows 2 to 6 once more. (not the 7th row, only 2 to 6) next row sl 1 knit to end of row, including sts still left on needle previously. next row knit all sts from both needles 45 sts(if you are one sts short, just make another one,if you have one too many decrease 1) Next row K 1 *wrn K2 tog: k1: repeat from * to end of row K2 or 1 (depending how many you have left) next row Knit: ***Next row Knit 1 purl 1 rib, to end continue this row for approx 20 rows, or desired length. Cast off.... sew up the seam, insert ribbon through holes you are done. ** for the red one I did not do the row with: “K1 wrn K2tog:K1” here, but I did it at the top (as I did not need to put ribbon through holes here, but at the top) I also did not do Knit 1: purl 1. I did plain stocking stitch, with alt white, seeing it was a Christmas stocking...and I was short on red...could also do it in green or any colour you prefer. I knitted 21 rows, finishing with a knit row: then next rows, all knit... next row: K1 wrn K2tog:K1. To end of row, K2 (row with holes) then 4 or 6 rows knit.... cast off. Make a white or red cord or ribbon, threadle through holes at the top and you're done. All the best! ***You have done the foot part of the bootie up to here, so this is where it goes from the ankle up. I decided to do it like a proper little sock and did 1 plain 1 purl, and turned the cuff, but, if you have a pretty pattern for the allowable stitch count you could dolly it up with any cute pattern you have, or do the same as I did.

helping yet again.

I really do love going to the nursing home facility that I go to, and the lovely ladies there try so hard to "make" something. So this one nearly 90 year old, knitted lots and lots of small coloured squares...then she started to sew some of them together.....then she "hid" the work all together. Several times I had asked her where it was, and for her to get it and bring it, so I could crochet an edge around it for her....she finally brought it out, a bit embarrassed I think. Anyway I told her I'd take it home and see what I could do with it,. She'd sewn about 30 squares together, and still had that many to put to it....so here goes.... This is how it was when I brought it home .... I'd spread it out and had a good look to see what I could do And here it is...done....edge and all hope she likes it! See ya!

A new start..

... Started this a long time ago, will try and finish it... ...See ya!
